Mischa Leinkauf, Mischa Leinkauf deals with limitations of spaces through borders, rules and barriers. In doing so, he usually seeks physical access to these political and architectural border spaces in order to temporarily override them. Be it, as can be seen in the exhibition, highly secured national borders or, as in the example of the work 'White American Flags', the appropriation of non-public urban space on the towers of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. For the symposium Mischa Leinkauf will present selected works that question how formatted and purpose-driven our public spaces are today.
Mischa Leinkauf (Berlin) deals with political and social boundaries and limitations of a theoretical and physical nature. His works explore limitations of spaces through restrictions, borders, rules, architectures and barriers. He questions the sense and nonsense of drawing borders, of national identities and territories in the 21st century. Through interventions in public space or natural environments, he provokes situations that create temporary irritation and suspend socially or politically motivated demarcations.
